Descriptive sections
0. Summary
C&A for you is a free European loyalty program from the clothing brand C&A, launched in Poland in August 2023. Participants collect points for purchases in stores and online, and the annual loyalty bonus ranges from 10% to 25% off depending on the number of points collected. The program is complemented by a 10% welcome bonus, a birthday gift and special offers during sales.
1. Objectives and context
The program is part of C&A's digital transformation - it is designed to build a customer database, increase visit frequency and enable personalized communication. The data collected makes it possible to better match collections and offers to the preferences of local shoppers.
2. Target group
Consumers over 18 living in Poland who buy C&A clothing in stores or online - both regular customers looking for savings and occasional shoppers who want to take advantage of the welcome bonus.
3. Architecture and type
- Free registration online or in the C&A app; required: being at least 18 years old and residing in Poland; participation does not require making a purchase.
- Points accrual: 1 point for every 1 PLN spent on eligible goods in-store, online or in the app; additional points for missions.
- After 12 months (a points year), the collected points are converted into a loyalty coupon (10-25% off by threshold); the coupon becomes available 30 days after the end of the year, is valid for 6 weeks, and the points balance resets to 0.
4. Earn & burn mechanics
- Accrual: 1 point for every 1 PLN paid for eligible goods (after all discounts are deducted). Excluded from accrual: gift cards, bags and packaging, shipping costs, alteration services, medical products. Points appear as pending within 48 h and are finally posted after 30 days. Additional points are possible for points missions (mission details communicated on an ongoing basis).
- Threshold and redemption: At the end of the points year (12 months), the participant receives a one-time discount coupon: 300 pts → −10%; 650 pts → −15%; 1250 pts → −20%; 2500 pts → −25%. The coupon lands in the coupon center 30 days after the end of the year and is valid for 6 weeks.
- Reward forms: Percentage coupons (annual bonus), a one-time 10% welcome coupon (valid 30 days), a birthday bonus (form depends on the current offer), an additional discount for participants during a general sale, personalized special offers by e-mail.
- Points expiry: Points expire at the end of the 12-month points year - the balance resets to 0 and a new collection year begins.
5. Emotional value
C&A builds the image of a democratic fashion brand - accessible and affordable for everyone. The program reinforces the sense of being a regular, valued guest: the annual bonus, birthday gift and exclusive access to sales create a sense of exclusivity without any financial barriers or entry thresholds.
6. Gamification
- A points mission system - specific shopping or engagement tasks generate additional points and add variety to the cycle.
- The annual collection cycle with a reset encourages regularity throughout the year - the customer is motivated not to stop collecting before the end of the period.
- Four bonus thresholds (10/15/20/25%) create a clear sense of progress: seeing the balance in the account encourages reaching the next threshold.
7. Differentiation
Among fashion programs in Poland, C&A for you stands out with an annual, scalable loyalty bonus (up to 25%) paid out as a one-time coupon only after a full year of collecting points. The "delayed annual reward" model is rarer than instant coupons, but it effectively extends the horizon of customer engagement and reduces cost pressure throughout the year.
8. Data and personalization
- Transactional data (in-store purchases scanned with the participant's code and online/app purchases); date of birth (optional, for the birthday bonus).
- Consent to personalized e-mail messages is a condition for receiving the welcome bonus and other benefits sent by e-mail (§2.3 of the terms).
- Personalization: monthly, curated clothing suggestions from designers at participant prices; algorithmic matching of special offers; integration with the mParticle CDP platform and the Emarsys marketing automation system (outside the terms - data from the Antavo announcement, 05.2024).
9. Technology
- The website (c-and-a.com) and the C&A app (iOS/Android); participation is possible without the app.
- Loyalty platform: Antavo Loyalty Cloud - partnership announced on 28.05.2024, deployment in 8 European countries (outside the terms).
- Integrations: mParticle (CDP), Emarsys (marketing automation) (outside the terms - data from the Antavo announcement).
10. Communication and lifecycle
- Communication channels: e-mail (the main channel for delivering coupons and offers), the C&A app (displaying the participant ID and points balance).
- Onboarding: a welcome e-mail with a digital participant identifier and a 10% coupon right after registration and granting marketing consent.
- Retention: monthly clothing suggestions, exclusive sale notifications, a birthday bonus; inactivity does not result in immediate account deletion.
11. Conclusion / inspiration for the almanac
The annual collection cycle with a progressive bonus threshold (10-25%) is an effective mechanism that stretches engagement over time - worth considering in fashion programs where purchase impulses are seasonal and the goal is to encourage the customer to return systematically throughout the year.
